
Kate Hudson is an actor of great talent, most well-known for her role as Penny Lane in the Hollywood movie Almost Famous which brought her an Academy Award nomination. She was born into a film family, Hudson seemed destined to the limelight as a child. Her mother Goldie Hawn was a film actor and her father Bill Hudson is comedian. Since her early years she was a performer and would take any opportunity to perform on stage. Her parents ensured she received dance lessons, and she was also trained at the Santa Monica Playhouse as a child. She started acting in 1996 when she was offered a character in the TV drama Party of Five. As she was admitted to New York University by Kate Hudson, her goal was to pursue a career in show business, but not get an academic degree. After performing in a few minor films and a few short films, she was offered the role that would become her first major role in the field. The role she was chosen for was Penny Lane in the comedy drama film Almost Famous. Although the film failed in the box office, it was well-received by reviewers and resulted in Kate a star in the American film industry.
